This is an Obsession! Week 17

I truly have never felt this way about anything. I am obsessed. I have trouble sleeping because I have to reach my goal. It’s a good feeling… but it’s also pretty scary.

I watch myself pushing for my goal and I think… who is this woman? 17 weeks ago, I had never experienced this level of commitment. This level of persistence was not something I knew I possessed!

I am sure of what I was put on this Earth to do and I am completely and totally obsessed with it. I go to bed late and I get up early… I eat quick meals on the run. I plan and envision myself reaching my goal. Nothing is as important as that goal.

I have even let my MKMMA responsibilities fall by the wayside. I have not commented and shared on enough blogs this week. I have not taken care of my blog roll on my own site and switched to my new team… nor have I added my mastermind partners to my blog roll. I have deadlines on blogs that I have been pushing off and I have work on my own site that needs to get done.

Tomorrow, before I start my web site work… I will comment and share everyone’s blogs on my team. I will dedicate an hour on Saturday morning and another hour on Sunday morning to commenting and sharing blogs. That should give me enough time to visit my team, my MMA group and hopefully a few others that I have been wanting to read!

Life is good… and living life to it’s fullest is something every person should be able to enjoy. Every day, I see my friend feeling better. That is my obsession!

As I was driving Laura to the doctor who is going to help her heal, she asked me, why are you smiling? And I replied because I am happy. Even though she was very sick and not comfortable because of the pain she was experiencing, I was picturing Laura the way she was years ago… funny and full of life.

A new house… a house to heal… a sauna… these things and more are rightfully ours. Because every person should have a clean, safe roof over their head. That’s my obsession. One starfish at a time.

Only Kindness Matters – Week 16

A week of kindness… why only a week?

Life is all about kindness.

I love you.

What? But you don’t even know me…

As the song says:

In the end… only kindness matters.

Why is it in the end that only kindness matters.

Shouldn’t it be every moment of every day that kindness matters?

I have so many blessings in my life, I lose count.

Many people never realize how blessed they are. Some of us are lucky enough to feel blessed and be grateful… for everything.

I love Tommy Edison and his positive attitude. Tommy was born blind and he looks at the bright side, counts his blessings, not his short comings… because our challenges are our blessings.

I have a friend who has a wooden leg. He was born without his lower leg and I admire him. He is a wonderful person inside and out and has never used the “handicap” card. He works. He gives of himself and he cares about people… and therefore, he shines a light on the world, where ever he goes.

I have a friend who is very sick right now. She is so sick she can barely take care of herself… and she has an eleven year old son to take care of. She may not know it when she is going through such pain and suffering… but she is blessed.

Every obstacle that we face is a blessing. Every challenge is a lesson. When someone faces a challenge and I see a way to help, I feel obligated and privileged to do whatever I can to show kindness… because that is all that matters.

This is a wonderful example of kindness:

We can all do something to be kind to someone. It has been a wonderful week of sharing kindnesses that we observe, kindnesses that we ourselves show toward others. How blessed to be among 200+ other people all focusing on kindness.

Kindness is the blessing of a lifetime. This week, I have felt very spiritual, very close to God, very close to loved ones who have passed and very close to my family and friends that are still with us. I feel a special bond with the world and for that I am grateful…

Thank you my friends in MKMMA and thank you Davene and Mark.

Only Kindness Matters!

Courage – Week 15

This week we were asked to review the following virtues that Ben Franklin wrote about in his Autobiography which is available for free here. Number them 1-11 in the order that I need to work on them.

The virtues are:

  • Self Control
  • Discipline
  • Enthusiasm
  • Courage
  • Persistence
  • Specialized Knowledge
  • Imagination
  • Decisiveness
  • Well Organized
  • Taking Initiative
  • Pleasing Personality

The one that popped out at me the strongest is courage. I had one friend tell me I have more courage than anyone she has ever met. That just goes to show that how I feel and how I look to others are two different things.

I can’t help but tell you that the cowardly lion from the Wizard of Oz has been in my head all week.

There are a couple of examples of courage that stand out in my week, so far.

On Sunday night, my friend Laura had the courage to leave her house and face homelessness even though she is very sick with toxic mold which has caused pancreatitis. I had the courage to talk to her brother, sister and mother about a very controversial subject that I am completely passionate about, toxic mold.

courage1I knew that in the past some of her family members had not believed that mold could be making her sick… and I knew this may be tough to do a fundraiser without their support. So I gathered up my courage… and I was pleasantly surprised and truly grateful that things went as well as they did.

I immediately started an online fundraiser for Laura (courage) and researched the legalities of that since I have not started a non-profit organization yer. I filed the necessary paperwork with the Department of Charities on Monday morning.

My husband is a member of the Elk’s and I am not. I have actually never been to the Elk’s hall without him. Wednesday night I had planned to go to the Elks to set a date for a spaghetti dinner and basket party for Laura and my husband couldn’t come with me.

As I was sitting in the parking lot, frozen, not from the cold but from that feeling you get when you really don’t want to do what you are supposed to be doing. I just kept repeating courage. And the more I said it, the more courage I got.

courage2When I walked in, I saw plenty of people I know and it was great to see everyone. I got to hear how great my son is because he volunteers for the Elks Friday night bingo… and I got to thank some of the people that helped to save my son’s life when he was very sick. If it were not for the fundraiser the Elks did for my son, I am not sure we would have ever found the toxic mold and gotten out of the house. I am eternally grateful for that fundraiser.

I see courage in my children, in Davene for trying something new with the blog roll list on the Monday night Digital Connections call and my dog is full of courage… maybe a little too much courage sometimes. The little dachshund thinks she can fight a Rottweiler!

I see courage everywhere… and I find it much easier to call upon the courage within me this week because I am noticing courage. Awareness is the window to the world.

Have I mentioned lately how grateful I am for the Master Key MasterMind Alliance Course?

Week 14 – Watch a Movie

Not just any movie, we were asked to watch one of four movies:

    October Sky
    Rudy
    Door to Door
    Cool Runnings

Door to Door

I found Door to Door in 7 parts on youtube and my husband and I watched it together.

I explained to him that we were looking for four things:

    Definite Major Purpose
    Positive Mental attitude
    Personal Pivotal Needs
    Plan of Action
    Persistence
a definite plan, expressed in continuous action

When we were done watching the movie we discussed what we saw in the movie. Really, each one of these things was in that movie. Bill Porter knew what he wanted, he stayed positive and he went after what he wanted. Nothing could stop him. He was determined, persistent and patient.

It was truly inspiring and well worth watching. Great movie and full of lessons. Patience and persistence are the most prominent… tons of other little tidbits sprinkled throughout the movie.

October Sky

We decided to watch another movie. I know, the assignment was to watch one movie… but we found October Sky for free on Netflix movies to watch Instantly and we decided to watch it.

Same things to look for as the other movie… and like the other movie, this movie had all of those things. Homer Hickam was definitely persistant. He knew what he wanted and he went after it. He had his own personal needs… he knew what they were and he stayed aligned with his values.

This is a great movie for every child in the world to see. Too often children (and adults) give up on their dreams and decide to do something because they have to and not because it is their dream.

Follow your dreams… that is the real lesson.

I have one more video to share. This is one of my favorites… and I hope you enjoy it too. Please comment below and let me know what you think of it!
